Breathtaking Images Of Majestic Croatian Caves By Dinko Stopic
Unafraid of darkness, bats, tight spaces, water and heights while capturing the otherwordly beauty around you? Like Dinko Stopic, spelunking and photography may be the perfect activities for you.
Dinko, a native of Croatia and a bridge designer by profession, has captured a series of gorgeous images of the hidden gems of Croatian caves. He has participated in more than 100 caves and pit explorations .
He first explores the caves and later comes back for photo shoots after he finds something fascinating. He usually spends 5 to 10 hours depending on a cave’s configuration and depth.
The deepest underground cave that he has explored is Croatia’s Lukima Jama which is more than 2,500 feet below the entrance.
His advice for aspiring spelunker-photographers? Pack light, he says. He brings only a shoulder bag for his Canon 5DII with 17-35mm lens, a radio transmitter, an extra battery and memory card. Bringing extra lens is not advisable because of the dust and humidity inside the cave which might damage the equipment.
According to him, “Photography is my hobby, speleology is my love”.
