Looks like we’re one step closer to life like the Jetsons.
Thoth Technology, a Canadian space-based applications company, has recently acquired a patent to create a 12-mile high space elevator.
The idea of such an elevator may be considered the stuff of science fiction, but the space elevator is seen as a better alternative to rocket launches, especially when it comes to sending heavy objects or people into space. It is estimated to be about 30 percent cheaper than using conventional rockets.
Thoth Technology is currently working on several projects on the development phase, such as the Northern Lander concept for Mars and a project that would probe elements in the atmospheres of alien planets.
