Ehang, a Chinese company, has unveiled the world’s first passenger drone powered fully by electricity, the Ehang 184, an autonomous aerial vehicle.

The prototype is a 440-pound electric aircraft that can go as fast as 62 miles per hour and stay airborne for more than 20 minutes. The aircraft’s body is composed of light and durable aeronautical materials. It has the ability to reach more than 1600 feet high above sea level. The maximum weight load is 220 pounds.

During the development of this aircraft, the designers prioritized the safeties of the passengers. The drone’s security flight management underwent extreme testing. If one of the power systems does not work normally while on air, the life size drone automatically lands on the nearest possible safe place.

According to its website, “Ehang 184 AAV is the safest, smartest and eco-friendly low altitude autonomous aerial vehicle, aiming on providing medium-short distance communication and transportation solution”.
