Interview: Fulvio Obregon, "Me And My Other Me"

Fulvio Obregon, also known as Fulaleo, is the artist behind the series called “Me and My Other Me”, which feature the remarkable past and present portraits of celebrities and famous people.  Subjects include Bill Gates, Michael Jackson, Paul McCartney, Steve Jobs, Mick Jagger, Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.  Each illustration shows the celebrity at the height of his career beside a younger version.

He was inspired to do this project when his cousin showed him pictures from their childhood and and more recent ones.

Can you tell us a little about yourself?

Fulvio Obregon:  I am passionate about the art, cartoons, since I was a kid watching a lot of TV but only cartoons, even until now, I like everything related to pop culture, I studied graphic design and now live it.

When did you discover your talent?

Fulvio Obregon: I discovered my talent while watching cartoons, my parents bought me coloring books and not the coloring but the redrawn, then I started to do without references, only drawings come out of your mind and think and develop my talents.

What inspires you?

Fulvio Obregon: I am inspired by the brilliant people, people with a good story, also music, the fashion, movies and times that marked trend.

How would you describe your art?

Fulvio Obregon: My art would describe it as a pop mix.

Obregon lives in Cali, Colombia.  He is a fan of pop culture and likes to share the feeling with people through his art.
