Mysterious Hole Drains Lake And Turns It Into A Meadow
A mysterious hole located at Hood River County in Oregon is draining the entire lake during summer time. It is an ordinary lake filled with water during winter but as the weather changes, the lake vanishes and turns the place into a meadow. The lake was named Lost Lake for its mysterious act that happens every year.
According to experts, the hole is actually an old collapsed lava tube. This tube seeps water from the lake and directs it into the nearby streams.
Lava tube is a natural conduit formed by flowing lava which moves beneath the hardened surface of a lava flow. Tubes can be actively draining lava from a volcano during an eruption, or can be extinct, meaning the lava flow has ceased and the rock has cooled and left a long, cave-like channel.
