In Nuenen, Netherlands, Dutch artist and designer Daan Roosegaarde has created a visually stunning illuminated bike path as homage to his famous countryman, Vincent Van Gogh .
The bike path is dubbed as Van Gogh-Roosegaarde Bicycle Path. The kilometer-long bikeway surface is coated with swirling patterns of special paint and light-emitting diodes (LED) that when illuminated at night, resembles Van Gogh’s famous “Starry Night”.
The materials used are special paint that generates energy during daylight and lights up at night and LEDs that are powered by a solar array.
The glowing cycle path connects through the Dutch province of Noord Brabant, where Van Gogh was born and raised.
